Olomomo nuts are the natural solution for the gluten-free diet

Following a gluten-free diet opens doors for your tastebuds by replacing plain gluten products with flavorful and creative ingredients. May is Celiac Awareness Month, a great opportunity for anybody who is gluten-intolerant to explore new solutions to being gluten-free.

With flavors like Cherry Vanilla Almonds, Maple Masala Pecans, and Applewood Smoked Cashews, Olomomo nuts snacks just so happen to be our favorite solution.

Gluten is the common name for the sources of protein found in wheat, barley, and other grains. The most serious of gluten intolerances, Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes damage in the small intestine when gluten is ingested. Removing foods that contain gluten often cause the lose of crucial sources of iron, fiber, folic acid, zinc, and vitamin D if not supplemented.

Luckily, almonds, cashews and pecans are a good source of some of the nutrients that become scarce in a gluten-free diet.

Almonds (1/4 cup):

  • 4% of your daily recommended intake of iron
  • 5 grams of fiber

Cashews (1/4 cup):

  • 23% of daily recommended intake of zinc
  • 11% of daily recommended intake of iron

Pecans (1/4 cup):

  • 8% of daily recommended intake of zinc
  • 4% of daily recommended intake of iron
  • 3 grams of fiber
Almonds are the highest source of fiber out of the above group of nuts and although cashews are one of the lowest-fiber nuts, they are packed with vitamins, minerals (23% DV of iron!) and antioxidants. In addition to high fiber, the skins of almonds are believed to contain prebiotics. Prebiotics are a naturally occurring food ingredient that supports and fuels the probiotics in the gut.

Obviously, nuts are naturally gluten-free, but as a certified gluten-free company, Olomomo Nut Company guarantees all of our ingredients, as well as the production facility, meet the strict standards of keeping gluten out of our delicious nut snacks.

From the birth of Olomomo Nut Company, one of the main core values has been to help make a positive impact on society. So, please enjoy our naturally gluten-free snacks on your next adventure and be sure to bring enough to share with your friends.
